Documented Life Project August 22 (Week #34)!

Here is this week's DLP art challenge & journal prompt:

Art Challenge: Layers (Using Multiple Mediums)
Journal Prompt: Speak to your younger self-
what advice would you offer?

I am super excited that I am getting caught up on all of my DLP challenges. WHOO-HOO! This week's "layers/mediums" challenges was super fun. I was able to incorporate the following mediums in my layout:
Spray inks
Tombow Markers
Acrylic Paint
Archival Ink

To tone down all of the color in my background, I decided to simply outline my face with black acrylic paint and filled in slightly with white paint & flesh tone Tombow markers. My "FEAR NOT" sentiment speaks to all the precious time & energy I wasted in the past worrying about people & things that were out of my control. I choose FAITH today!

 Thanks for stopping by!

How Do I Face My Biggest Challenge?

Hey friends! It is one thing when you are challenged to draw one face. However, it is quite another when you have a full month of DLP "face" challenges. WOWZERS!!! I am totally approaching this month's DLP theme as an opportunity to stretch my mixed media skills.
Here is how this week's layout turned out:

Weeks #26 through 33 (Summer 2015) Mixed Media Style Pocket Scrapbooking Layouts!

Hey guys! Needless to say, it has been a minute since I have posted a pocket scrapbooking layout....eight whole weeks to be exact! WOWZERS!

It has been quite a summer with my interim children's ministries gig at church & our move 3 weeks ago. Throughout it all, I managed to capture the best of every moment. This MONSTER layout basically covers all the KEY events we experienced in July & August. My design approach is minimalistic. I simply mounted the photos on Amy Tan's "Plus One" scrapbooking paper and embellished with Heidi Swapp's new sentiment stickers. 36 photos are packed in two "Design P Panoramic" pocket page protectors. Get'r done! ;D

Well, without further ado, here is a look back at the Chavis crew's 2015 summer break (July & August only):

Many blessings!

"If you are going to be weird, be confident about it!"

~ author unknown

Hey everyone! I am slowly getting unpacked & settling in to my new art studio after our move 3 weeks ago. At the end of a super busy week with my new gig & last minute back-to-school activities, I am back today with my Week #32 DLP layout.

I am GRATEFUL for the light-hearted "characters" art challenge and "be WEIRD" journal prompt this week. I took the opportunity to document a scripture that I have been camped out in lately from Hosea 6:3 ~ "He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth". Been wanting to draw near to the Lord lately and just asking Him to come like a flood in my spirit. I coupled this scripture with my MESSY doodled bear that I created out of washi tape. The umbrella is painted, patterned scrapbooking paper & the 3-d raindrops were made using Stickles & Liquid Pearls.

Here is a look at my final layout with close-up pics:

Documented Life Project July 25 (Week #30)

Here is this week's DLP art challenge & journal prompt:

July Theme
July 25
Art Challenge:  Real Life
Journal Prompt: At This Moment

This past week, one of my dear friends sent me a text with this scripture:

Psalm 40

For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.

I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
    out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.

In the midst of all of the life changes around me, I have be clinging to this Word with all of my being. So, I decided to include it in my DLP layout this week.
