Paperbag Studio's "Dream Thicket" Stamp Release & Creative Team Blog Hop!

It's the Paper bag Studio's "Dream Thicket" release day! YAY!! Mixed media artist, Kristin Peterson has designed a beautiful, eclectic collection of stamps that will win the heart of any art lover.

"Dream Thicket"
Stamp Collection from
Paperbag Studios

Today, I am sharing how I used this INCREDIBLE rubber stamp set to create three SUPER FUN mixed media projects.

Groovy Pocket Letter

First, I used BOLD acrylic paint, black archival ink, and several of the "Dream Thicket" stamps to create this groovy pocket letter. These versatile mixed media pocket letter cards can be used in a Project Life layouts, planners, traveler's notebooks or as collage elements in other art projects.

Grunge & Glam Tag

For my second project, I used Kristin's awesome bouquet of circles stamp to create this grungy, yet fabulous mixed media tag. To recreate this look, simply brush acrylic paint on the "Dream Thicket" rubber stamp and then apply the paint to your tag. The imperfect impression of the acrylic paint will add both visual interest & texture to your work.

Painted Traveler's Notebook Insert Cover

And finally for all of you traveler's notebook fans, how about this delicious kraft midori size insert cover? The "Dream Thicket" stamps are PERFECT for creating 'WAY COOL' repeating patterns. I coupled two of Kristin's repeating circle stamps to create this classic black & white background. To finish, I stamped her large heart shape in the center to create a focal point and grunged it up a bit with black archival ink using the striped pattern from the small heart, also found in the "Dream Thicket" collection.

Thank for stopping by today & I hope that you have been inspired to check out the new "Dream Thicket" stamp collection. Please be sure to visit the other Paperbag Studio's Creative Team members' blogs for more incredible mixed media inspiration using the new "Dream Thicket" stamp set . It is available for purchase TODAY at Paperbag Studios.

Make it a creative day,

Welcome to Summer ~ Life Changes!

Hey everybody! HAPPY SUMMER! I pray you are well.

The summer season usually brings on a "much needed", slower change of pace from my family's demanding school year schedule. However, this summer will be a little different for us.

First, I will be serving full-time as the Interim Director of Children's Ministries (at least until the end of October) at church. I am humbled and excited about the opportunity to serve God & all of the incredible kiddos. I will share more 'deets' later.

Secondly, the Chavis crew will be moving into a new house this summer. I will even have my very own art studio with French doors. WHOO-HOO! SO EXCITED! So, with that being said, please pray for us during this season of change. I will do my best to keep you posted along the way.

LOVE you guys! I appreciate you so much!

Enjoy your summer!

Here is this week's DLP art challenge & journal prompt:

Art Challenge: Recording Memories
Journal Prompt: Taking the Road Less Traveled

My art journal layout this week simply serves as a visual reminder that my life journey with the Lord should reflect His grace & goodness.

My 9 year old daughter created a piece of artwork at school this past week. In an effort to preserve this memory, I decided to use it as the first layer of my DLP background. She painted a picture of the ground, trees & sky using acrylic paints (Note: I totally forgot to take a photo of her original piece. However, the photo below is a general idea of what her image looked like).

To create the waves in the photo above, I added acrylic paint to my gelli plate and pressed the blue piece of textured foam below to create marks. I then placed the painted foam on top of my daughter's artwork and pressed firmly to create the wavy second mixed media layer.

Week #22 Mixed Media Style Pocket Scrapbooking Using Art Pops Journal Cards!

Hello fellow Project Life lovers! Today, I am sharing my mixed media style pocket scrapbooking layout for Week #22.

Typically, my album layouts run from Monday to Sunday each week. Occasionally, I will extend my week a bit to accommodate special events. In this case, that special event was Memorial Day weekend. For me, the celebration began when I escaped for a relaxing weekend getaway the Thursday prior to Memorial Day. I was absolutely determined not to exclude any of the action. So instead of documenting a normal 7-day week, I packed Week #22 with 11 fun-filled days.  When it was all said and done, I had 32 photos/personal bits of memorabilia for Week #22. WOWZERS!!!! ;D

For my scrapbooking paper & embellishments, I paired the "Citrus Bliss" 6x6 patterned paper by Pink Paislee with the BRAND NEW bold "In the Garden" Art Pops journal cards by mixed media artist, Roben-Marie Smith. These super versatile cards can be used for photo mounting, collage work, and personal journaling. If you are looking for an easy way to incorporate mixed media elements & pops of vibrant colors into your scrapbooking layouts, you DEFINITELY need to check out Roben's super fun Art Pops.

I selected a 'Design A', a 'Design A Panoramic' (with two additional 4x6 & 3x4 pockets) & a 'Design J' page protectors to house all of my photos, journal cards, and personal ephemera. My dates are stamped with 'cranberry' Colorbox pigment ink on square Avery repositionable stickers. I used Ranger's Dylusions "Write Between the Lines" mixed media stamp set and a red Sakura Gelly roll pen to create contrasting journal spots throughout my layout.

Here is a look at my final layout:
